Gerald Schwartz School of Business
St. Francis Xavier Univeristy is one of Canada’s leading primarily undergraduate universities, nestled in the small Nova Scotia town of Antigonish. Our historic residential campus is home to a population of around 4,200 students, one-in-five of whom are in the BBA program.
The Gerald Schwartz School of Business offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with several degree streams as well as a thesis-based honours program, a co-op option and multiple international exchange opportunities. The department has a long-standing history of undergraduate teaching excellence, and our faculty are actively engaged in research and in their professions.
The Business Administration program at StFX puts students on the fast track to becoming leaders in a wide range of business capabilities. The BBA program is built around applied learning strategies that help students break into careers in accounting, entrepreneurship, enterprise systems, finance, international business, management and leadership and marketing. Students are provided many opportunities during their studies from leadership roles; international exchange experiences, co-operative education, and business society ventures.

Our programs
The BBA program at StFX is student focused with an emphasis on the experiential dimension of learning. Schwartz School BBA graduates leave with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become successful and responsible leaders in their disciplines. The analytical and technical skills our students acquire will prepare them exceptionally well for whatever careers they pursue.
The BBA program at StFX is built around applied learning strategies that help prepare students for careers in all areas of business including the public and private sectors, and not-for-profit organizations. The Schwartz School offers majors, advanced majors and honours streams in the following areas: accounting, enterprise systems, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, management and leadership, and marketing. Within each of the degree streams, students have a Co-operative Education option that combines classroom learning with invaluable work experience.
Our city
Our small town in the northeastern corner of Nova Scotia (pop 5,195) is a hub and service center for the rural communities surrounding it. Antigonish is a diverse and family friendly town with access to good education at all levels, recreation, sports and cultural activities. It is surrounded by rolling countryside with hiking and beautiful beaches. Blessed with natural beauty, outdoor enthusiasts have a lot to choose from in the Antigonish area—from beaches along the Northumberland shore to hiking through rolling countryside, coastal trails and woodlands.
Enjoy the small town charms but the lively life of a larger community. Gaelic culture is strong in the area and the Antigonish Highland Games have been celebrated here for over 150 years.
