Our programs
In the Commerce program, students explore the business world and acquire management knowledge, skills, and experience. Studies focus on the process of effective problem solving and decision making in the business environment through teamwork and the development of management systems, which combine quantitative analysis and human judgment. A focus on experiential education translates to graduates entering the business world with a variety of practical work experiences through mentorships, internships, opportunities to invest in real time with funds donated through our partnership with Louisbourg Investments, and through numerous other experiential opportunities.
Mount Allison University also has recently introduced a unique new program – Bachelor of Commerce with Aviation. This interdisciplinary degree combines professional flight training with in-depth studies in areas of business relevant to the field of aviation. This program is offered through a partnership with Moncton Flight College (MFC), one of the leading flight training establishments in North America. Students in this stream will be able to complete a BComm degree along with obtaining a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), a multi-engine class rating and a Group 1 instrument rating, all in four years.
A Commerce degree from Mount Allison University is highly flexible, reflecting the diverse business society that students will enter after graduation. Students take courses in a variety of business areas (such as management, accounting, finance, marketing) while completing a minor in a non-Commerce discipline.
A minor in a discipline outside of business is a unique feature of the program. There are thirty-two possible minors, from international relations to psychology and environmental studies to history. Mount Allison continues to offer certificate programs and have recently added a certificate in art management. With partnerships with the Luminary Project and the Promise Scholars program, Mount Allison University is committed to cultivating a diverse student population; with this diversity comes strengthened communities, both for students attending university and for those who have moved into the boardroom.
