Bishop’s University
Williams School of Business
Since 1843 we’ve been the smallest of Quebec’s English universities and one of the most intimate university environments in all of Canada. We know tradition and prestige. We know academic rigor. We believe in engaging and dynamic classes. Professors who know your name. Students who get involved. A genuine sense of community and belonging. A family of more than 19,000 proud alumni.
The Bishop’s learning model starts with a small group. With approximately 2,800 students, we offer some of the smallest class sizes in the country and the most personalized education available. You want to get to know your professors. No problem. You will not be a number here. We will not let you. We listen. We debate. We push students to expand their horizons.
Our students are empowered to deal with complexity, diversity, change and adaptability. Choosing to study at Bishop’s means you are seeking an educational experience and a way of learning that is going to be unique, exceptional, personal and transformational.
Above all else, we are a community. A community of scholars, leaders, change-makers and friends. We are family and we are there for one another. Together we are PURPLE.
Our programs
The B.B.A. offers an in-depth approach with a specialization (Accounting; Finance; Global Management and Leadership; Marketing and Entrepreneurship; General Stream). Students are encouraged to do a profile (four courses) in Entrepreneurship, Information Technology or International Business to boost their specialization. We allow up to three work placements to count as electives.
The Major in Business allows the exploration of other disciplines, whereas the Major in Management necessarily complements a major in another discipline. Both the B.B.A. and the Major in Business require Finite Mathematics and Linear Algebra.
We offer a Graduate Certificate in Business for non-business graduates to help them develop a business skill set that is valued by the workplace.
Our city
Situated in one of the most gorgeous and secure regions in the country, our campus is nestled between the rolling country hills of the Eastern Townships, the confluence of two rivers and the quaint bilingual borough of Lennoxville (population 5,800). No matter the season, our idyllic setting is serene, yet offers everything you would need in a city.
You’ll make Lennoxville your immediate home away from home, where the local pubs and shops will be glad you came. Venture deeper into Sherbrooke (population 166,000) known for its cultural diversity and vast entertainment options. Or travel the Eastern Townships and across the border into Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine or New York, where outdoor discoveries, outlet shopping and adventure abound.
Why study here?
Quoting from the Network of International Business Schools Reaccreditation Visit Report: “With 20 per cent of the student population coming from the local area, 20 per cent international student population and 60 per cent coming from other Canadian provinces, roughly four out of five WSB students are from outside.
The need for virtually all students to form new social relationships when they arrive, coupled with the lack of a dominant local student population, makes it much easier to achieve a genuine sense of community. There is little sense of local “in-groups” and non-local “out-groups” as is common in many other universities and there is a general, and very pleasing, international environment which the Team found to be very inclusive.”
